Quick Living Will creation

Needed a Living Will. Found it fast on LawDepot. Filled in my details, downloaded the PDF right away. Simple to use. It took me less than 15 minutes. Good service for what I needed.

Good value, minor snag

I recently drafted a Residential Lease Agreement and a Quitclaim Deed. The process was mostly smooth, and the documents seemed comprehensive enough for my needs. The price for an annual subscription was a good value compared to hiring a lawyer for each separate item. Downloading as a PDF was easy. My only small issue was with one of the clauses in the lease agreement; I had to re-read it a few times to make sure it said exactly what I intended. It wasn't wrong, just a bit clunky in phrasing, so I ended up adjusting it in a word processor after downloading. Still, overall, I was satisfied with the outcome and the time saved.

Always reliable for documents

I've used LawDepot a few times now, mainly for business documents. This last time I needed a Partnership Agreement, and it was just as straightforward as before. The templates are consistent, and I appreciate that. I just log in, find what I need, and fill it out. Took about 20 minutes to customize and download. It's why I keep coming back; no surprises, which is good when you're dealing with legal stuff.

Hey guys, thinking about getting a lease agreement from here. Is it actually legit for California? Don't want to get screwed over.

O Olivia Allen 1 month ago
Yeah, I used them for a residential lease in SF last year. Worked fine, the template seemed to cover all the usual CA stuff. Obviously not legal advice but it held up for me.

They have a pretty decent list of documents for different states. I think they say their docs are legally binding in most states, but you'd want to double check for your specific situation. Better safe than sorry.

is lawdepot better than rocket lawyer or legalzoom? i just need a simple will and maybe a power of attorney, nothing crazy.

K Katie Mitchell 5 days ago
For simple stuff like a will or POA, Lawdepot is pretty solid and usually cheaper than LegalZoom. Rocket Lawyer is kinda similar too, but I found Lawdepot's interface a bit easier.

I've used all three. Lawdepot is good for basic documents if you know exactly what you need. LegalZoom and Rocket Lawyer offer more 'hand-holding' if you're totally lost, but you pay for it.

What's the deal with the free trial? Is it really free, or do they charge you immediately and then you have to fight to get your money back?

P Paul Jones 4 weeks ago
It's genuinely free for the first 7 days. Just remember to cancel before the week is up if you don't want to pay. I forgot once and they charged me, but I cancelled right after and got a refund pretty quick.

Yeah, just set a calendar reminder to cancel. They don't charge upfront for the trial, it just auto-converts to a paid sub if you don't stop it.

Anyone know if you can actually edit documents after you buy them, or are they just one-and-done PDFs?

J James Carter 3 weeks ago
You can totally edit them! I changed my will like three times over a couple months. It saves your stuff so you can go back and tweak it.

Yeah, that's one of the best parts. I think as long as you have an active subscription, you can keep messing with them.

are there any promo codes floating around for like an annual plan? I saw something about discounts but didn't know if that was just for new people.

I Ian Lee 1 month ago
Sometimes they do. I got one around Black Friday last year for an annual plan. Keep an eye out during big holiday sales or maybe New Year's.

I think they mostly push the free trial for new users. For existing customers, you might get an email offer if your subscription is about to renew, but actual promo codes for annual plans seem less common unless it's a specific seasonal thing.
